SNELLVILLE, Ga. -- 11Alive's Help Desk is partnering with the Red Cross Friday for a special blood drive honoring Aimee Copeland. The University of West Georgia graduate student remains in the hospital after losing both hands, one leg and her remaining foot to flesh eating bacteria.
11Alive wants to ensure that Copeland has a substantial amount of blood available during the trying weeks that lie ahead.
The blood drive is being held from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Snellville Middle School, which Copeland attended. Her mother has been a teacher there for over a decade. The school's address is 3155 Pate Road in Snellville.
Blood can also be donated at any of the six Red Cross Metro Atlanta Chapter blood centers. Simply say it's to honor Aimee Copeland at the time of the donation.
Donors who visit the Red Cross Blood Centers on Friday can also sign a special card that will be given to Aimee while she remains hospitalized.
