ATLANTA – Lee Pietrobon of Loganville is celebrating a $1 million Powerball prize from the Georgia Lottery.  Pietrobon matched the first five numbers from the May 15 Powerball drawing, winning $1 million.

Pietrobon, 78, used his own combination and purchased his lucky numbers at the Publix at 2715 Loganville Highway SW in Loganville.

A second winning ticket worth $1 million from Wednesday’s Powerball drawing was sold at the QuikTrip at 1350 South Cobb Drive SE in Marietta. A winner has not yet come forward to claim the prize. Powerball winners in Georgia have 180 days from the draw date to claim prizes.

“I picked the No. 2 because we’re a couple – me and my wife – and our birthdays are in there,” the grandfather of four said. “By golly, we lucked out!”

Winning numbers from Wednesday’s Powerball drawing were: 2-11-26-34-41 and the Powerball was 32.

“I wrote the numbers down last night and looked over them this morning,” Pietrobon said. “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.”

He and his wife, Pat, have no plans at the moment for their windfall.

Saturday’s Powerball jackpot is at an estimated $550 million to a single annuity winner.

Powerball tickets are $2 per play. Players can multiply prizes with the Power Play feature for an additional $1 per play.

As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
