ATLANTA -- Ted's Montana Grill has been named the Best Gluten-Free Restaurant Chain in the 2012 About.com Gluten-Free Readers' Choice Awards.

The restaurant chain, which was founded by Atlanta media mogul Ted Turner, began offering a gluten-free menu in 2005.

"Although we're known for our bison specialties, we try to feature options for many types of dietary needs," Chris Raucci, corporate chef for Ted's Montana Grill, said in a statement. "We're proud to be recognized for our gluten-free choices and plan to continue enhancing our gluten-free menu to offer new products."

Chick-fil-A to host mother-son 'Date Knight'

ATLANTA -- All of the Chick-fil-A restaurants in metro Atlanta will host a special mother-son Date Knight on Saturday, Apr. 28.

The Date Knight format will be similar to that of the franchise's massively popular Daddy-Daughter Date Nights. It will give mothers and sons a special chance to enjoy some quality time together.

The event will have a medieval theme, hence the "Knight" part of its title.

"One of Chick-fil-A's goals is to promote community connections and enrich the lives of everyone we come in contact with," Robin Lomax, Chick-fil-A area marketing director, said in a statement. "We understand the importance of mother-son relationships and want to encourage local moms to come to Chick-fil-A, enjoy their sons' company over a meal and have fun."

Pollo Tropical offers $1 soup

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- It's cold outside, but Pollo Tropical is making it easy to warm up by offering $1 soup for one day this month.

On Wednesday, Jan. 18, anyone who says "Happy Soup Day" to the Pollo Tropical cashier will receive a piping hot cup of Caribbean Chicken Soup or Split Pea Soup for only $1.

"Winter is the best time to enjoy our popular Caribbean Chicken Soup, and this is our way of rewarding our loyal customers and introducing ourselves to new fans," said Pollo Tropical VP of marketing and communications Kim Miller.

This offer has a limit of two $1 cups of soup per customer. It is good all day on Jan. 18.

Back by popular demand, Marlow’s Tavern is once again offering its five-week-long “Lobsters & Libations” menu from Tuesday, November 30 through Monday, January 2. This year, the neighborhood eatery has revamped the limited-time offering by implementing guest feedback on all of last year’s lobster-themed dishes. From keeping crowd favorites to modifying other menu items, Marlow’s Tavern has truly taken its guests into consideration.  

“We are excited to bring back our ‘Lobsters & Libations’ menu,” says Executive Chef/Co-Founder John Metz. “We love how enthusiastic our guests are about the selections, and because we always offer it this time of year, it helps to get everyone in the holiday spirit,” he adds.

New Olive Garden to create 165 jobs

SNELLVILLE, Ga. -- Metro Atlanta's newest Olive Garden restaurant is coming to Snellville, bringing 165 jobs to the area.

The restaurant will open at 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5 at 1565 Scenic Highway.

"Snellville has been one of Gwinnett County's fastest growing cities, making it the ideal location for Olive Garden," said Dan Kiernan, executive vice president of operations for the chain, which has about 750 locations nationwide.

LOCAL PROFILE: Side Dishes with Chef Jason Hill

 

ATLANTA – Recently, the Where U Live Team spoke with Chef Jason Hill, owner of Inman Park eatery, Wisteria about a couple of his favorite Thanksgiving side dishes. He and Executive Chef Walker Brown explained the dishes and the inspiration behind them.

Hill suggested the Collard Greens and Corn Pudding for people who want to bring a flavorful and exciting dish to their, respective, Thanksgiving dinner. In the video above, Hill walks viewers through preparation of these dishes and the recipes are listed, below.

 

Corn Pudding:

Ingredients:

3/4 cup rice flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

4 cups corn, cut from the cob or frozen, thawed

1/4 cup buttermilk

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted, additional for the baking dish

2 large eggs, separated

2 ounces Asiago cheese (1 cup shredded)

Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
