Pollo Tropical offering $9.99 lunches for National Boss's Day

ATLANTA -- Tuesday, Oct. 16 is National Boss's Day, and you can show your boss how much you care by treating him or her to a $9.99 lunch at Pollo Tropical.

The Two Can Dine for $9.99 promotion is available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday.

The $9.99 deal includes two entrees, two regular fountain drinks and a regular-size order of Yuca Sticks, Cheezy Yuca Bites or Sweet Plantains.

To take advantage of the offer, text BOSS to 52198. You'll receive a response with the coupon, which is good for dine-in or takeout.

Pollo Tropical has two metro Atlanta locations -- 825 Duluth Highway in Lawrenceville and 2955 Cobb Parkway in the Akers Mill shopping center.

Outback Steakhouse donates meals to local seniors

SUWANEE, Ga. -- Nearly 400 Gwinnett County seniors will receive free meals Wednesday from Outback Steakhouse.

The restaurant on Celebration Boulevard in Suwanee is donating meals of grilled steak and chicken, vegetables, mashed potatoes and bread to Friends of Gwinnett County Senior Services.

The charity lunch is part of the steakhouse chain's Outback at Work program. Wednesday's meals will be prepared at 9:30 a.m. and then delivered to seniors across Gwinnett County.

Friends of Gwinnett County Senior Services provides financial support to the county's senior programs. About 150,000 seniors benefit from annual events like the Outback meal giveaway.

Marlow’s Tavern recently celebrated the winners of the restaurant’s summer grilling recipe contest at a party at the new Dunwoody location on Saturday, September 8. The “Get Up in Our Grill” Recipe Contest was held during Marlow’s popular six-week “Red, White and Brew” menu feature (held June 12 through July 23) and gave local grill masters the opportunity to enter their favorite recipes for a chance to win an array of prizes.

The festivities included complimentary tastings of the six finalists’ recipes, drinks specials and an awards ceremony. Executive Chef John C. Metz, Jr.

New Marlow's Tavern location in Dunwoody hosts cocktail party for grilling recipe contest finalists

DUNWOODY, Ga. -- On Saturday, September 8 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.,  Marlow’s Tavern in Dunwoody is celebrating the finalists of the restaurant’s “Get Up in Our Grill” Recipe Contest.

During the popular neighborhood tavern’s six-week long “Red, White and Brew” menu offering, which took place earlier this summer and featured seasonal American favorites, all eight locations of Marlow’s offered grill masters the chance to show of their skills in the Marlow’s Tavern Third Annual Grilling Recipe Contest. Interested grillers entered their favorite recipes from June 12 through July 23, and Executive Chef John C. Metz reviewed all recipes and determined the following six finalists:

Smoothie King raising money for Bert's Big Adventure

ATLANTA -- Smoothie King locations across metro Atlanta are spending the entire month of June raising money for Bert's Big Adventure.

Customers who give $1 to the non-profit will receive a $2 "bounce back" coupon from Smoothie King.

The goal is to raise at least $5,000 by the end of the month.

Bert's Big Adventure, which was founded by Bert Weiss of Q100's "The Bert Show," sends children with chronic and terminal illnesses on an all-expense-paid trip to Walt Disney World.
