FOOD REVIEW: Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Lawrenceville GA

FOOD REVIEW: Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Lawrenceville GA

The night before we went here we were talking about how to take something "gourmet" and make it blow up. How do you take a YEAH! Burger, a FLIP Burger Boutique or any genre for that matter and make it big BUT make it right – so what’s replicated, is authentic to the original. After tonight were convinced you can’t.

FOOD REVIEW: Italia Café, Lawrenceville GA

FOOD REVIEW: Italia Café, Lawrenceville GA

If you are looking for Italian, and I mean real Italian, you cannot get more Italian than Georgio Esperti, Chef and owner of Italia Café.

Giorgio Esperti was born in Rome to an Italian nobility family. An early culinary passion took Giorgio to London, as a sous-chef, at the young age of 17, and in Paris at 18 as chef. Then it was of Rome, Bari, Firenze and Miami. After such exploits, Giorgio decided to make it all more personal, and on August 16, 2008, he opened Italia Café in Lawrenceville.

FOOD REVIEW: The Diner At Sugar Hill, Sugar Hill GA

FOOD REVIEW: The Diner At Sugar Hill, Sugar Hill GA

If I was to think of where a trendy, upscale diner would be my mind would probably gravitate more toward West Midtown or Virginia-Highlands rather than Sugar Hill (near Buford). What we did find was décor equally worthy of the tag “trendy” and friendliness that the South is known for.

We were greeted immediately and seated within 10 minutes (NOTE: we arrived on the tail end of the lunch rush for Sunday brunch. I expect longer waits normally). This brief moment of waiting gave us the opportunity to lust over the dessert display. We found out later that the cakes are made by the owners chef brother.

FOOD REVIEW: Nagoya Japanese Restaurant, Loganville GA

FOOD REVIEW: Nagoya Japanese Restaurant, Loganville GA

It had been a long time since we’d been to a Japanese hibachi restaurant. For those of you who are new to our planet or for some other reason have never ventured to such an establishment, you are in for a treat!

The style is somewhat different than most are generally accustomed to. Diners are seated around a large grill. The cook prepares the food there and usually there is much fanfare involved such as trickery with the cooking utensils and a good bit of humor involved.

FOOD REVIEW: Doc Green’s Gourmet Salads & Grill, Lawrenceville GA

FOOD REVIEW: Doc Green’s Gourmet Salads & Grill, Lawrenceville GA

We were a little skeptical of Doc Green’s as every time that we’d been by there it seems as if no one is there. We are pleased to report though that there is much to discover there!

As many others are trying to eat healthier this new year, so are we. Snowpocalypse was coming and we were craving one more meal out before the quarantine before and we would soon be cut off from the outside world for who knows how long.
