Saturday is Put Litter in its Place Day in Gwinnett

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful will host a county-wide cleanup day this weekend.

Saturday, Apr. 26 is Put Litter in its Place Day. All Gwinnett residents are asked to pick up trash at locations throughout the county -- parks, stretches of road, neighborhoods and so on.

Snellville to cut ribbon on Briscoe Park

SNELLVILLE, Ga. -- The city of Snellville is preparing to unveil Phase II A of the Briscoe Park renovation.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held Friday, Jan. 25 at 10 a.m.

The fun will be held at the new field/parking lot where the Briscoe Park tennis courts once stood.

Renovations to Briscoe Park were funded by Gwinnett County SPLOST programs.

Students' artwork to hang in City Hall

SNELLVILLE, Ga. -- Snellville's Art on the Wall at City Hall program is honoring local students in December.

Works from Brookwood High School students will be on display at City Hall all month, Snellville Mayor Kelly D. Kautz announced Tuesday.

An opening night reception for the display will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Attendees can mingle and chat with the budding artists and view their creations.

'Elf on the Shelf' dinner coming to Gwinnett

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The popular "The Elf on the Shelf" franchise is the inspiration for an upcoming family event in Lawrenceville.

An "Elf on the Shelf" dinner and dance will be held at the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse at 6 p.m. on Dec. 7.

Kids can eat dinner, dance and enjoy a visit from the Big Elf. Admission is $9, which includes dinner and dessert, music, a child-friendly craft and a souvenir photo with Santa.

Jingle Bell Run/Walk to raise money for Arthritis Foundation

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- More than 1.6 million Georgia adults and 9,200 children have a form of arthritis. Now, runners in the Atlanta area can help fight this disability.

The Arthritis Foundation Jingle Bell Run/Walk is coming to Gwinnett County next month.

This 5K aims to raise $55,000 for the Arthritis Foundation, which works to raise awareness and reduce the impact of all forms of arthritis.

Katherine, a 3-year-old Gwinnett County resident, is a local face of the disease, and one of many Georgians who will be positively affected by the Jingle Bell Run/Walk. Kat was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis when she was only 2 years old.

ATLANTA -- Eating at Chipotle Mexican Grill just got even better.

All Atlanta-area Chipotle locations will donate the day's proceeds to the Education Garden at Piedmont Park this Wednesday, Oct. 24.

The giveaway is part of the restaurant chain's recognition of Food Day, a nationwide movement that works to improve food policies.

Chipotle will give the Education Garden up to $10,000. More than 800 children visit the garden every year to learn about natural and organic gardening methods.

Swimming class to host tribute to veterans

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The young synchronized swimmers at Collins Hill Park Aquatic Center are getting ready to host their fourth annual performance for veterans and military families.

The patriotic show will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3.

The synchronized swimming group is made up of girls ages 8-14 who love to swim and are interested in honing their water skills in a creative way. Their Nov. 3 show is free and will be followed by a short reception.
