East Point Woman Charged in Attempted Jail Break

PELHAM, GA -- When police in Camilla, GA stopped a suspicious vehicle on Sunday, they found an AK-47 assault rifle, a .45 caliber pistol, wilderness survival supplies, a baby boy and a 24-year-old woman inside.

Tamah Jada Wallace of East Point is now charged with conspiring to break her baby's father out of Pelham City Jail, where she is now behind bars.

Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office spokesman Stacey Bourbonnais
says 30-year-old Jason Joseph Clark was being held there temporarily after being sentenced to 30 years in prison.

The city jail in Pelham, which is close to Albany and Moultrie in South Georgia, recently agreed to house Gwinnett prisoners for a fee when there's not enough room at county jails.

Authorities realized Wallace and Clark were related after reviewing recorded phone conversations in which they allegedly plotted to help Clark escape.

Week Four's Game of the Week Nominees

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- Atlanta.HighSchoolSports.net's Game of the Week will be tough to predict no matter which match-up fans pick.

The first nominee for Game of the Week is Creekview at Chattahoochee. While some teams have not played a single region game, these two teams have done nothing but battle teams within their region.

2-1 Creekview beat Region 7-4A opponents Sequoyah and Northwest Whitfield in a couple of low-scoring games, then, most recently, lost to Lambert by 10 points. Chattahoochee, a 2-0 team, beat Lambert 31-7 in their season opener and topped Forsyth Central 35-14 in their home opener.

Georgia Team Makes Massey's Top 25

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- The new Massey Ratings are out and North Gwinnett is the only team in the Top 25. The Bulldogs were idle last week, but Coach Sphire's squad managed to move from the 26th spot in the rankings to 19th. The Massey rates North Gwinnett's offense as the nation's 153rd best while their defense is slotted as the country's 19th toughest. The Bulldogs also play the 147th hardest schedule nationally.

North Gwinnett was rated even higher in the USA TODAY Super 25, coming in as the 14th-ranked team in the country. Last week, they were 15th in the same poll.

The Bulldogs play Collins Hill on Friday, September 17.

Camden County, the highest-ranked Georgia team in most national polls, did not make the Massey Top 25, but the Wildcats did make the USA TODAY Super 25 poll.

In that ranking, Camden County topped North Gwinnett, coming in at sixth in the country. The Wildcats move up from the seven spot they occupied last week.

A Look Back at Week 3's Prep Football Predictions

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA -- Atlanta.HighSchoolSports.net's Game of the Week was predicted to be a close one by Massey Matchups. Flowery Branch was supposed to get a 25-23 win over Apalachee.

Massey Matchups correctly predicted a Falcon win, but underestimated how many points would be scored in the game. The Flowery Branch-Apalachee game was an offensive battle that far exceeded the 48 predicted points of total offense. The final score for the Region 8-4A match-up was Flowery Branch 52, Apalachee 35.

Flowery Branch also won by a bigger margin than expected. Massey Matchups gave the Falcons a two-point edge. Flowery Branch actually won by 17.

Lawrenceville Woman's Death Spurs New Calls for Parasailing Oversight

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- Those who knew her describe 27-year-old Alejandra White as a loving person, a joy to work with.

Alex, as they called her, had been a chiropractic assistant at the North Atlanta Chiropractic clinic on Lawrenceville's Pleasant Hill Road for the past three years.

None of her coworkers would go on camera Monday, but they showed 11Alive News a memorial display they've set up to honor her at the clinic.

"We had hoped to help plan her wedding," one coworker said, "but now we'll be going to her funeral instead."

"The lady was coming down in a parasailer and this wind picked up real fast and they were trying to pull her back out, but she came down and hit the ground. She actually wrapped around the poll and hit the dirt."

That description from an eyewitness described the parasailing tragedy that ended up taking Alex White's life in Clearwater Beach, FL.
