LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- A Lawrenceville restaurant will remain closed for repairs after a fire tore through in the early morning hours Sunday.

Gwinnett firefighters arrived in the 3000 block of River Drive SW, the location of Eagles Landing Cafe and Grill, just before 5 a.m. after a caller advised seeing smoking pouring from the roof.

When crews arrived, the fire had already spread into the attic of the one-story building and were starting the break through the roof over the kitchen.

Firefighters immediately began an attack from inside the restaurant and managed to get the fire under control by 5:15 a.m.

While the fire was contained to the back of the restaurant, officials said damage in that area and the attic above was heavy.

The blaze appears to be accident, investigators said, and seems to have started inside a while due to an electrical malfunction.

No one was in the restaurant since it was closed at the time of the fire and there were no injuries reported.

However, fire officials said they expect the restaurant to remain closed until repairs can be made.
