LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Firefighters held an annual event for a good cause on Saturday, to benefit a non-profit near and dear to their hearts.

Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services held their annual 5-Alarm 5K Run/Walk at 8a.m. in downtown Lawrenceville.  Approximately 300 runners participated in the event.  The run started and ended at the Lawrenceville Lawn and dotted its way through the downtown square.  All proceeds from the run benefit the Gwinnett Fire Employee Benevolent, a non-profit organization, whose mission is to help firefighters during time of need.

The run also serves as a qualifier for the Peachtree Road Race.
