Arrest made in Valdosta State student's death
VALDOSTA, Ga. -- A teenager has been arrested in the death of 17-year-old Jasmine Benjamin.
Darien Joseph Meheux turned himself in to the Schley County Sheriff's Office in Ellaville, Ga., Thursday night.
The 18-year-old Lawrenceville resident is accused of killing Benjamin, who was found dead in the study hall of her Valdosta State University dorm in November 2012.
Benjamin was also from Lawrenceville.
Investigators determined she died of asphyxiation.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesman John Bankhead said Meheux was arrested after a lengthy homicide investigation.
