USA Today's Super 25 Poll for Metro Atlanta is here

ATLANTA (WXIA) -- This season, 11Alive.Com and HighSchoolSports.Net will have a weekly Super 25 high school basketball poll for Metro Atlanta schools.  The poll, which is provided by USA Today, will rank both boys and girls teams from all classifications using the Massey Ratings.

With teams from the Atlanta area being ranked among the nation's best again this season, the Super 25 Poll will be a weekly measuring stick. We hope it will spark a conversation about who holds the title of top basketball team in the Atlanta area. We start with the poll for the week of January 2.

GWINNETT CO | Grayson Rams aim for first state title

GWINNETT CO | Grayson Rams aim for first state title

LOGANVILLE, Ga. -- Competing at the 5A level in football in Gwinnett County is a little like being in the NFC South.  There's always someone waiting who can ruin your day.

But the Grayson Rams feel like their day has come. It's not that they don't respect their state final opponent.  Walton carries the same 14-0 record into the Georgia Dome this Saturday as Grayson. But four other Gwinnett County schools have claimed titles over the years, and Grayson feels it's their time.

"We owe this to coach (Mickey) Conn" said junior defensive star Robert Nkemdiche. Conn has carried this program a long time. In fact he is the only coach the program has ever had, there from the beginning in 2000.

"We played a junior varsity schedule for a couple years, then went in at the AAA level," Conn said.

High School football rivarly goes viral days before the big game

Atlanta -  10/28/11 has been highlighted on a group of teenager's calendars for a while now.  It marks the day that Grayson High School will play their arch rivals from Brookwood High School.

The 2 football teams and schools have been rivals for years, but what makes this year different are that the schools each released rap videos on YouTube to showcase their spirit and 'lack of love' for the other team.

The videos are surprisingly well produced and the music is very good.(better than what you hear on the radio)  Brookwood's video seems to be a little bit better, but they had the advantage of going second and creating a "response" to the original Grayson High video.

Regardless, these videos are great and it is good to see a fun, clean, high school rivalry.  I hope that the good spirit and sportsmanship carries over to the game and to the fans on Friday.
