First Annual Legacy of the Legend Concert, November 13th

Calling all Michael Jackson fans, the time is now for you to get up close and personal with the closest people to the departed star.

Joseph Jackson will arrive in Atlanta with The Jackson Family Foundation to present the First Annual Legacy of the Legend Concert on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 6:00pm at The Arena in the Gwinnett Center. 

The Jackson Family Foundation’s goal is to promote Unity, Love and Peace between all cultures and people. The mission is to support disadvantaged students through education and scholarships.

Gwinnett County will Host the Annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m

Atlanta, GA--  Gwinnett County will host the annual Veterans Day ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Gwinnett Fallen Heroes Memorial in Lawrenceville. The public is invited to attend this observance to pay tribute to the men and women who have served honorably in the military, during wartime or peacetime, and to memorialize the fallen heroes who have sacrificed their lives to protect our nation.

 Gwinnett County commissioners and County Administrator Glenn Stephens will lead this year's ceremony. The keynote speaker will be by Brig. Gen. Jerry J. Bradford. Honor guard units from the Gwinnett County Police, Fire and Emergency Services and Sheriff's Departments and the Lawrenceville Police Department will also take part in the event.

The Veterans Day Ceremony will be televised at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 11 on TVgwinnett, the county's local government access cable channel.

Short Bus Heroes at Lawrenceville Square, November 19th

Lawrenceville, Ga., (November 4, 2010) – Aurora Theatre Funny Fridays continues club comedy performances on the square in downtown Lawrenceville welcoming Short Bus Heroes.

Short Bus Heroes Comedy Tour is four talented comedians with diverse styles and outlooks who have banded together their comedic powers for good rather than evil. The next bus stop is at Aurora Theatre Funny Fridays on November 19, at 7:15 & 9:15 PM.

The four fellows that comprise Short Bus Heroes are some of Atlanta’s most gifted comics. James “JB” Blackwell is known for his conversational delivery, and is charismatic enough to take his comedy to that place where we say what we think, not just what we’re supposed to. Jamie Bendall is a name well-known in Atlanta comedy as owner of the legendary Punchline comedy club.

Historic Gwinnett Bus Tour, November 6th

What local city has an entire district listed on the National Register of Historic Places? Come and discover the answers to these questions and other historic tidbits about Gwinnett.

The Gwinnett History Museum, part of the new History & Culture Program of the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center, is sponsoring its annual historic bus tour. You are invited to participate in this event on Saturday, November 6, 2010. The bus pulls out at 8:30 am from the Lawrenceville Female Seminary and will travel to the cities and towns of Norcross, Centerville, Grayson and more. This is an opportunity you do not want to miss!

Participants will enjoy the comfort of a motor coach bus and be led by knowledgeable tour guides as they ride through the county.

Gwinnett Historic Courthouse Hosts Murder Mystery

In preparation for Halloween, Gwinnett County Parks & Recreation is partnering with Page2Stage Productions and Stacey Sparks Events to present “The Haunting on the Square,” a chilling murder mystery dinner event.  The murder mystery is taking place at the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse (185 W Crogan Street) from 7:00-9:00p.m.

Aluminum Overcast at Gwinnett County Airport

Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 690, located at Gwinnett County Airport, Lawrenceville, Georgia will host one of the few flying Boeing B-17 bombers, "Aluminum Overcast," on its visit to the Atlanta area. The EAA's restored B-17 bomber continues to thrill the public throughout the United States on its "Salute to the Veterans" tour. Tens of thousands have experienced this unique airplane through its visits and aircraft ground tours, while thousands of aviation enthusiasts have actually flown in the renowned bomber. The B-17 is considered one of the greatest military airplanes ever built and one of the best-known aircraft types of the World War II era.

"Aluminum Overcast" will be available to the public to purchase daily flights and/or ground tours at Lawrenceville's Briscoe Field.  The aircraft will be at Landmark Aviation (north side), 850 Airport Road, from Thursday, October 14 through Sunday, October 18.
