Play Ball for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta

LAWRENCEVILLE – The inaugural Gwinnett Baseball Classic will be held on Wednesday, March 9th, beginning at 7PM. This matchup at Coolray Field is between two premiere college baseball teams, University of Georgia and University of Alabama.

Proceeds from this game will benefit the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta: Children’s Foundation. Tickets for the game will be sold at the door for $12 and doors open at 6PM.

Coolray Field is located at 1 Braves Avenue in Lawrenceville.

SNELLVILLE -- New London Theatre will present A Midsummer Night’s Western opening March 11th and continuing through March 20th.

Bill Shakespeare saddles up and rides west for this rough-and-tumble iambic adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

New London Theatre is a non-profit theatre dedicated to providing the community with affordable, high-quality, family-oriented entertainment and education in the Arts.

A Midsummer Night’s Western will be performed their final dress rehearsal on March 10th at 7PM, guests will be admitted for a small donation.

New London Theatre is located at 2485 East Main Street in Snellville.

ATLANTA — (ARC) Through the annual CREATE Community Local Government Awards program, the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) will recognize five local governments for their innovation and efforts to make the Atlanta region a better place.

The CREATE awards recognize several areas of achievement: Community Involvement & Collaboration (Fayette County), Regional Prosperity & Economic Development (City of Stone Mountain), Environmental Sustainability (Gwinnett County), Application & Innovation in Technology (Fulton County) and Educational Excellence (City of Decatur).

Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation to Host Aquatics Job Fair

On Friday, February 4th, Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation will host their free Aquatics Job Fair which will give attendees the chance to learn about lifeguarding and instructor opportunities with Gwinnett County Parks & Recreation.

This job fair is for certified and uncertified lifeguards and swim instructors. The process takes approximately 45 minutes, parents are welcome to attend. Attendees please bring your swim suit.

Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation Mission Statement: In partnership with our citizens, Gwinnett County Parks & Recreation provides high quality, broad-based parks, facilities, programs and services creating a sense of community, enabling a safe and secure environment, and enhancing Gwinnett’s quality of life.

The event will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Bethesda Park Aquatic Center at 225 Bethesda Church Road in Lawrenceville.

Gwinnett County K-9 Unit Pay Last Respects to 11-Year-Veteran Officer Aiko

On Wednesday, December 22nd, members of the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department are gathering to celebrate the life of K-9 Officer, Aiko. The eleven year veteran and right hand of Sargent Paul Corso, was most noted for his work with the Duluth “Run Away Bride” case in 2005.  

The services of Aiko will be held at Oak Rest Pet Gardens Funeral Home Cemetery located at 2691 Harbins Road, off Hwy. 316 in Dacula at 2:00 p.m. 

Oak Rest Pet Gardens donates its services as a tribute to K-9 Officers serving the public interest.   K-9 Officer “AIKO” will be laid to rest in the Garden of Honor at Oak Rest Pet Gardens alongside many other K-9 Officers previously laid to rest.

Services will include several of the Gwinnett Police Department K-9 Units.
