Would-be kidnapper at large in Snellville

SNELLVILLE, Ga. -- Police are hunting for a man who reportedly tried to abduct a 13-year-old girl in Snellville Tuesday night.

The victim told Snellville Police the man approached her near Meadow Trace Drive and Bramble Way.

Police said the girl claimed the man told her he lost a puppy and tried to lure her into his car, but she ran off.

The teen described the man as white and clean-shaven. He had a Midwestern accent and wore a black sweatshirt with the hood pulled tight around his face.

The man was driving a red older model full-size pickup truck with some rust damage.

Officers are stepping up patrols in the area Wednesday morning. Authorities said they don't believe the incident is connected to other reported attempted abductions in Gwinnett County.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Snellville Police at 770-985-3555.
