Gwinnett Becomes Camera Ready Certified

ATLANTA – (submitted by the Gwinett Chamber) On Monday, March 21, the State of Georgia officially announced camera-ready designations for over 70 local communities, including Gwinnett County. Gwinnett is now more equipped than ever to offer streamlined assistance to filmmakers and producers.

According to the Gwinnett Chamber, “Georgia Film, Music and Digital Entertainment launched Camera Ready in the October of 2010. The initiative provides special designation to participating communities interested in hosting film and television production projects. A certified camera ready community delivers helpful and timely resources to assist production companies in upcoming shoots and projects.

DULUTH, Ga. –(submitted by The Hudgens) Session II art classes start the week of March 22 at the Hudgens Center for the Arts, so sign up now to reserve your space!

Classes for adults and for children are available in drawing, painting, pottery, jewelry, photography, glass and more.  New this session, the Hudgens is offering four classes in combined piano and art, for toddlers, children and adults.  There are also special daytime classes just for homeschoolers, and one-day workshops on such diverse topics as soapmaking and painting.

Class lists with full descriptions and online registration are available on the website atwww.thehudgens.org.  Registrations can also be made by phone at 770-623-6002, through the mail using the printable registration form from the website, or in person.  The Hudgens is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays.

SNELLVILLE -- New London Theatre will present A Midsummer Night’s Western opening March 11th and continuing through March 20th.

Bill Shakespeare saddles up and rides west for this rough-and-tumble iambic adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

New London Theatre is a non-profit theatre dedicated to providing the community with affordable, high-quality, family-oriented entertainment and education in the Arts.

A Midsummer Night’s Western will be performed their final dress rehearsal on March 10th at 7PM, guests will be admitted for a small donation.

New London Theatre is located at 2485 East Main Street in Snellville.

LAWRENCEVILLE -- The Atlanta and Gwinnett Braves will host Willie Nelson’s Country Throwdown on Sunday, June 12 at Coolray Field in Gwinnett. The main stage will feature country music legend Willie Nelson, Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser and Lee Brice.

Pre-sale tickets are available now and tickets purchased during the pre-sale will enable ticket holders to enter Coolray Field 15 minutes prior to doors opening and also give them two “anytime tickets” to use for an upcoming 2011 Gwinnett Braves game. Doors will open at 3 p.m.

The main stage will feature country music legend Willie Nelson, Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser and Lee Brice. Doors will open at 3 p.m. and tickets will go on sale Thursday, March 4th at 10:00 a.m. 

A secondary stage will feature performances by Brantley Gilbert, Craig Campbell, and Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real.

The Bluebird Café tent, will feature up and coming singer/songwriters who will perform acoustically.

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Conductor Keith Lockhart and America’s Orchestra, the famed Boston Pops, will present their first-ever Minor League Ballparks tour, visiting 10 cities including Coolray Field in Lawrenceville on August 19th. Iconic singer-songwriter Kenny Loggins will join Mr. Lockhart and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra for a tour program that features music inspired by three of this country’s favorite pastimes--baseball, movies, and rock ’n’ roll.
