ATLANTA -- The nominees for this year's Suzi Bass Awards were announced Monday.
The Suzi Awards are among the top honors for Atlanta theater productions. This year's Suzi Nomination Party was held at the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville, which scored 18 nominations.
Aurora's world premiere production of Clyde 'n Bonnie: A Folktale had 15 nominations -- the most of any play or musical. Second place went to Spring Awakening at Actor's Express with 10 nominations, while two shows tied for a third-place seven nominations -- Atlanta Lyric Theatre's Gypsy and Theatrical Outfit's Red.
Of the nominating theaters, Alliance Theatre led the pack with 22 nominations. Like Aurora, Atlanta Lyric Theatre had 18 nominations. Theatrical Outfit scored 12 nominations, Actor's Express had 11, and Georgia Shakespeare and Horizon Theatre each had 10.
The recently-closed Theatre in the Square also won its final nomination -- Outstanding Lead Actress in a Play for Elisa Carlson's portrayal of Myra Babbage in Ghost-Writer.
