SNELLVILLE, GA -- A 7-year-old Loganville girl is dead after being hit by a car in Gwinnett County over the weekend.

Gwinnett County police say Lidia Brown ran into the road and was hit by 41-year-old Brian Turner as he drove his Jeep Wrangler along a road in Loganville on Saturday. Gwinnett Police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter says the girl died shortly after being taken to Eastside Medical Center in Snellville.

Ritter said Turner likely will not be charged in the accident. Authorities say speed and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the accident.

The incident remains under investigation.
